Empowering 2,767 Rubber Farmers: KOLTIVA's Role in GAP Project with GPSNR, Goodyear, General Motors, and Kirana Megatara

In Phase 3 of the Indonesia Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Coaching Project, a total of 2,767 smallholders have received coaching on GAP forest preservation and restoration, agroforestry, and regenerative agriculture. The initiative is led by GPSNR, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, General Motors and Kirana Megatara, and implemented on the ground by Koltiva.

During a field visit in July, Gan Chuan Heng (Associate Director, GOCPL Natural Rubber - Goodyear), Daniel Goh (Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Goodyear), Chen Chee Wei (Impacts and Assurance Manager – GPSNR), Widyantoko Sumarlin (Chief Sustainability Officer - Kirana Megatara), Yuthvia Denis (Sustainability Officer - Kirana Megatara) witnessed the real-world progress of the GAP Coaching Project.

With the highlights:

👨‍🌾 2,767 (out of 2,700) new farmers have received coaching and 1,709 (out of 1,600) new farmers have completed farm assessments.

🙍‍♀️ 1,182 (out of 1,080) women coached, and we’re seeing a growing number of young farmers (791 out of 540) in Musi Rawas and Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, leading the way in regenerative agriculture, sustainable land management, and efforts to reduce deforestation risks.

📘 Farmers are using the RubberWiki mobile app to access localized learning modules on GAP along with tailored agricultural calendars that help guide their day-to-day decisions.

🌱 One rubber agroforestry demonstration plot has been established in this project to test and showcase improvements in soil quality, intercropping systems, and future replanting practices. The 0.2-hectare plot, owned by farmer Subarni, features an intercropping system with banana, durian, and groundnut.

📲 Field agents utilize the KoltiTrace FarmXtension app, streamlining field surveys and farm mapping, and syncing directly with KoltiTrace MIS for real-time project monitoring and data collection.

🌟 We met inspiring young rubber farmers like Yensi and Ari during the visit, who are actively applying the knowledge they gained in rubber disease management and improved tapping techniques to enhance the health and productivity of their farms.
