Mexico’s food traceability market was valued at USD 257 million in 2023 and is forecasted to grow to USD 425 million by 2030. This growth is fueled by consumer demand for transparency and strict global compliance standards.
With agriculture and agribusiness contributing nearly 8% of GDP and connecting Mexico to premium markets worldwide, Koltiva is well-positioned to scale its digital traceability tools and producer services to unlock sustainable, high-value supply chains.
At Foro Global Agroalimentario 2025, Koltiva highlights how digital traceability, compliance monitoring, and producer training can strengthen supply chains, enhance food security, and align Mexico’s agriculture with global sustainability standards.
In 2023, Mexico’s food traceability market generated a revenue of USD 257.0 million and is projected to reach USD 424.9 million by 2030 (Grand View Research, n.d.). This rapid expansion is being driven by consumers who increasingly demand transparency and safety in the food supply chain. Global regulators are also implementing strict compliance standards that require comprehensive traceability systems, compelling food producers and distributors to adopt advanced tracking solutions.
As we see it, the agri-food sector stands at a historic crossroads. Climate change, deforestation, food security concerns, and shifting consumer expectations are reshaping agriculture worldwide. At the same time, technological innovation, forward-looking policy, and collaboration across industries are opening new opportunities to build resilient, transparent, and sustainable supply chains.
That is why we are proud to participate in the Foro Global Agroalimentario 2025: The Future of Food in Mexico. For us, this forum is more than just a conference, it is a meeting point for producers, exporters, governments, investors, and solution providers who are united in shaping the future of agriculture.
Mexico plays a strategic role in global agri-food markets. As one of the world’s top producers of coffee, maize, and fruits, the country not only sustains its population of more than 130 million people but also supplies premium markets across North America, Europe, and Asia (USDA, 2024). For Koltiva, this event provides the perfect stage to highlight how we are working in Mexico to empower smallholder producers, ensure compliance with international sustainability regulations, and build deforestation-free, traceable supply chains that benefit both people and planet.
Mexico’s agricultural sector is truly a powerhouse. Vast areas of land are dedicated to maize, rice, beans, coffee, and palm oil, while the country also leads global exports of avocados, berries, and tequila. Agriculture and agribusiness together contribute nearly 8% of Mexico’s GDP and sustain millions of rural livelihoods (Mexico Business News, 2025).
However, we also recognize that this sector faces deep structural challenges. Smallholder producers form the backbone of production, but many of them struggle with limited access to finance, markets, and training in climate-smart practices. Climate change is intensifying droughts and floods, which directly threaten yields and food security. In addition, international regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) are raising the bar for transparency and compliance in supply chains that cross Mexico’s borders.
We believe events like the Foro Global Agroalimentario 2025 are crucial for aligning stakeholders around solutions. With Mexico as host, this forum will:
Facilitate dialogue between governments, private companies, NGOs, and producers.
Showcase technology driving traceability, digitization, and sustainable production.
Connect producers and buyers to high-value international markets.
Debate urgent themes, from food security to regenerative agriculture.
Our participation reflects this shared mission. Representing Koltiva, Oziel Serrano Fernández, Customer Success Officer for the Americas, will contribute to the discussions by showcasing how digital solutions and field expertise are reshaping agricultural practices while creating new opportunities for producers and agribusinesses. By bringing forward our integrated technology ecosystem and hands-on experience across Latin America, we aim to demonstrate how smallholder producers can be central drivers of transparent and sustainable food systems.
With a growing team in Mexico and the broader Latin America region, we are scaling Koltiva’s award-winning solutions across coffee, cocoa, and other crops. To date, we have digitally validated more than 25,000 coffee producers in eight Latin American countries, with Mexico playing a pivotal role.
Mexico is one of the world’s top ten coffee producers, with regions like Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Veracruz renowned for high-quality Arabica beans. Yet many smallholder producers in these areas face fluctuating prices, limited access to markets, and the growing impacts of climate change.
Our robust traceability platform, KoltiTrace, ensures end-to-end visibility from farm to cup. We register producers, map their plots using geospatial tools, and digitally record their transactions. This provides exporters and roasters with full visibility of origin while ensuring compliance with deforestation-free requirements.
Through FarmGate, transactions are transparent, recorded, and provide fairer prices for producers. By combining these services, we are not only helping increase yields but also connecting Mexican coffee producers with global specialty markets.
Our strength lies in our ecosystem approach—a “one-stop shop” for sustainable agriculture that integrates technology, training, and transactions. In Mexico, our ecosystem includes:
KoltiTrace: The digital backbone for traceability, risk monitoring, GHG emissions accounting, and compliance with EUDR and FSMA.
KoltiSkills: Training and capacity-building programs that equip producers with the knowledge and tools to adapt to climate change and meet market requirements.
Together, these solutions empower producers while also building the trust of international buyers who increasingly demand proof of sustainable and ethical sourcing.
We see the future of food as highly regulated. With strict rules from markets like the EU, ensuring agricultural imports are deforestation-free and respect human rights, producers in Mexico cannot be left behind.
Our technology already helps producers comply with these standards. By mapping farm boundaries, monitoring land-use changes, and recording every transaction, KoltiTrace builds an auditable chain of custody that meets the highest international benchmarks. This unlocks access to premium markets and secures long-term sustainability for Mexican agriculture.
By joining the Foro Global Agroalimentario 2025, we aim to:
Showcase Innovation: Demonstrate how integrated digital ecosystems can transform smallholder production in Mexico.
Build Partnerships: Connect with cooperatives, NGOs, exporters, and government agencies to scale sustainable solutions.
Promote Inclusion: Highlight the importance of bringing women, youth, and marginalized producers into formal supply chains.
Drive Global Compliance: Share insights on aligning with international regulations like EUDR, CSRD, and FSMA.
This forum is also an opportunity to reinforce our identity as a global company with local roots. While our technology now operates in 94 countries, our presence in Mexico allows us to understand local realities, collaborate directly with producers, and design solutions that are both culturally and economically relevant.
We believe Mexico is on the brink of a transformative decade. With global demand rising for sustainably sourced coffee, cocoa, and fruits, the country has the potential to lead in defining the future of food. Achieving this requires:
Investment in technology that democratizes access for smallholder producers.
Alignment of national policies with international regulations to secure market access.
Strengthening of producer cooperatives to scale best practices.
Inclusive models that empower women and youth as agri-preneurs.
At Koltiva, we are ready to play our part. By combining digital innovation with boots-on-the-ground presence, we are creating a blueprint for how agriculture can thrive in the 21st century: inclusive, transparent, and sustainable.
During the Foro Global Agroalimentario 2025, we invite participants—whether cooperatives, exporters, buyers, or policymakers—to connect with us and experience firsthand how our technology is transforming supply chains.
The future of food is being written today, and Mexico is at the heart of that story. With its rich agricultural heritage, dynamic producers, and expanding innovation ecosystem, the country is positioned to become a global leader in sustainable agri-food.
For us, participating in the Foro Global Agroalimentario 2025 is not just about showcasing technology—it is about forging partnerships, empowering smallholders, and ensuring that every cup of coffee, every exported fruit, and every cultivated hectare contributes to a more transparent, equitable, and climate-resilient world.
At the core of our mission is a simple belief: every producer counts, every product matters, and every supply chain can be transformed. Mexico presents fertile ground for this mission, and together, we can chart a course toward a sustainable food future.
